about

We were privileged to have October played as Neil March’s ‘Vanishing Point Track’ on the Monday Night Ride Out, Exile FM, 7 Dec 2020. Neil gave us this lovely introduction.

Juliet & Nanette have fashioned a sound and practically their own sub-genre. It is based on Juliet’s jazz-infused piano style and Nanette’s rich, lyrical Cello playing, topped off by Juliet’s smoky, heartbroken voice. The songs tend to be characterised by a large portion of melancholy both in the rueful qualities of the melodies and the generally tragic themes of broken relationships that dominate their lyrics. October has all these elements. It also has gorgeous key modulations, some stunning cello playing by Nanette and a tune that will lodge itself in your unsuspecting head. I hope it doesn’t leave listeners to the awesome Monday Night Ride Out feeling sad but it will hopefully offset such feelings by blowing them away with its quality and uniqueness. If there was such a thing as the perfect hotel, it would have an attractive late night bar in which Juliet & Nanette would be the resident band.

lyrics

Our warm days are over now
This is our October
If I were you I wouldn’t stick around here now
It’s just gonna get a lot colder
Do you really need to wait ’til Winter comes around to know it’s really over
If you feel like we ain’t talked in a while
That’s ’cause this is our October
If you feel like lately we don’t ever smile
And there’s no one to hold ya
Do you really need to wait ’til Winter comes around to know it’s really over
Really over
Really over
Do you really need to wait ’til Winter comes around to know it’s really over
Our Spring and Summer came and went
Now it’s our October
And if you didn’t know how this was gonna end I’m sorry no one told ya
But do you really need to wait ’til Winter comes around to know it’s really over
Do you really need to wait ’til Winter comes around to know it’s really over
